Breezeway is unique to my other Sunshine Coast paintings because this was the first and only one I painted for myself. Part of my start as a freelance artist was donating paintings of Anvil Island to the Day Break Point Bible Camp auction and from that came commissions of the island. It is a joy of mine to bring to life others visions but this painting was special to me because I got to paint one of my favourite scenes from camp.

This is a picture of the time of morning that staff get up to prepare the day for the campers. It's cold at first but then the sun blasts us in the chairs in front of the dinning hall. We're now over dressed, over tired, blinded by sunlight, drinking dull camp coffee and wondering how we got here and why we thought this was a good idea. But it's quiet, it's beautiful out, it's pure summer and the people are so funny and we're in it together.
