Acrylic on Stretched Canvas | 30 x 40”

I checked the time. It was less than 2 hours before my engagement party, and I probably should’ve washed my hair, but all I wanted to do was paint. I remember justifying it to myself by saying it was decor for the theme. I used dry shampoo and quickly sat down at my easel. Grabbing the biggest canvas I had on hand, I proceeded to dump black and white paint straight onto it. I set a timer for 1 hour and blasted Beyoncé - Drunk in Love (ft. Jay-Z) on repeat. This is the painting that came out. It was so fun painting as fast as I could, dancing while I did, and letting go of the pressures for an hour. That joy in creating spontaneously carried me for longer than just an evening and taught me sometimes it’s so worth sacrificing the pretty hair.
